WHY WE GO

“I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

— Matthew 25:40 NLT

Jesus calls us to see Him in the people the world often overlooks. That conviction is why Carolina HOPE goes out — bringing the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to the streets, one person at a time.

OUR STORY

A New Name, the Same Mission

Carolina HOPE grew from approximately three and a half years of ministry through How Deeply May I Drink LLC, founded by Ben Proctor and his wife Deb in 2023 alongside Dr. David Heller, director of the Columbus County Baptist Association.

That earlier ministry served people experiencing homelessness and families facing hardship with blessing bags, hygiene kits, socks, sleeping bags, tents, food, and practical assistance — including occasional temporary-housing support as funds permitted.

A core part of the ministry has also been connecting people struggling with addiction to recovery resources, including Christian Recovery Center, Inc. in Brunswick County.

Carolina HOPE carries that mission forward under a new name — while keeping Jesus Christ at the center of everything we do.

“Love isn’t just kindness — it starts with loving God first. That’s what moves us to love people the way God calls us to.”

— Ben Proctor, Founder

OUR VISION

Hope for today. A bridge toward tomorrow.

Carolina HOPE’s longer-term vision includes expanding access to temporary housing in our service area, with particular concern for single mothers with children. This is part of where we hope to grow — it is not a service we currently operate. Today, our focus remains on meeting immediate needs and building a real bridge to recovery and stability.
